28th February 2020 saw Chicago native/ Los Angeles based Ali Blake unveil her brand new single and this being Witness. Having been thoroughly impressed with this succulent single, I then delved into the back catalogue and my mind was literally blown with what I was hearing. Anyhow Ali Blake is a tremendous singer/ songwriter who has that something extra special, actually it comes as a surprise she’s not been snapped up by a record label.
Now I’ve had Witness on a constant loop and I can’t help but praise this outstanding original. This captivating cut was a joyful experience which can quite easily bring a smile to any face. Anyhow the gorgeous melody was uplifting, those whimsical harmonies were tinged with a gospel influence whilst Ali’s vibrant vocals were literally a colourful explosion.
Ali Blake does have a gift when it comes to penning exquisite songs. Everything about Witness’s lyrical content was spot on, those verses were mesmeric, that gorgeous chorus packed a punch whilst that middle 8 was hypnotic “No matter what you hear them say/ I’ll be beside you every step of the way/ No matter how they twist the truth/ Your heart is stronger/ I wont give up on you”. This single was an inspirational anthem which had been crafted to perfection. These heart warming words told the tale of sticking by a friend/ lover through the hard times. Also those soulful tinged tones also gave the feeling of hope that everything will be fine in the end
